Chapter Chat 1-2

 Last week for Chapter I made a Nazi Bomer from world war two because the book we are reading for chapter chat is about a boy called Eric who made a connection with a gorilla and tries to save it from getting put down but at the time of world war, two was happening. 

This week for chapter chat I have made a plan of how Eric will help Gurtrud escape from the zoo. I made the envelope all by myself with tape and paper I made it look olden dayish by putting the red stamp on the back from where you open it. 

Crime Seen Close-up

 Today Mrs Taaffe confessed That she was the one who broke into our classroom and stole the HDMI cable and milky way bars. Mrs Taaffe said that she came to school on Friday the 9th of October to drop some work off but when she was stealing some chocolate she thought she heard someone coming so she quickly ran out and hid behind the bushes for a second then kept going. 

When we came back to school we saw that there was blood on the door which was from Mrs. Taaffe because she cut her wrist. Some things that made suspect that it was her was the pink scrunche and The black pants she was wearing when we saw the video footage Becuase I know she has that scrunchie and those black pants because when I help her out with reading I saw her where them.

Who Dunnit Story.

 For the past couple of weeks, I have been writing a Who Dunnit story. In the story, we need to find out who was the culprit and who did what. 

    Pavlova gone WRONG!!!

Pause that let me tell you a bit about me, My name is Sockie I am 11 years old and I live in a small town called Ngatea. I live with me my mum and dad and my brother Miles (he never wants to spend time with me because apparently playing on your phone and your Xbox is more important) I have a cat called Moochy because he always mooch’s around my legs. My favorite thing to wear is comfy clothes like jumpsuits, hoodies, tracksuit pants. My favorite animal is horses and panda’s I love to cook and swim and ride horses.




And food, pizza well if I tell you too much I will crave for it which I don’t want to because I have just had a lovely lunch. On a nice sunny day, I will have ice cream I like all ice creams except mint

sockie was too shattered to say only as 2 words came out of her mouth” M-m-my pavlova” sockie cried out.




She was so excited to share it with everyone but now well it is ruined, Sockie is now on the hunt to find out who ate a chunk out of her pavlova!!. (DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUNNNN!!!). Sockie figured out that all of her family were in the lounge when she found out someone had taken a bite out of the pavlova, She searched around the house, and even in her brother’s dirty washing

“here goes nothing”

Sockie said disgustedly, So she came to the conclusion that if it was not her mum and dad or her brother then ethier someone broke into the house no no no no no wait a moment all the windows and the doors where shut so it must have been the CAT…

 This week for the blog challenge we are researching about Halloween since it was Halloween last week. Here is what I found out. 

2020 Athletics

 On Tuesday the 3rd of November It was NPS school athletics day. We had 4 events to do which was running, shot-put, high jump, and long jump.  My favorite event was the long jump and shot-put Because I like jumping and pushing things as hard as I can. My most challenging event was the high jump because the bar was a bit higher than I was expecting. I felt a bit nervous before my running races but once you get it over and done with I was perfectly fine. In the long jump, we had three goes and when you land they will measure how far you went so on my first go I got a 2.77m, on the second go I did,nt get anything because if you land backward they will mark from where you but landed and on my third go I got 3.00m. 

For shot put we also had three goes on my first go I got 4.45m, on my second go I got 4.00 because I did 'nt use enough oummf, and one my third go I got 4.76. In the high jump, I did not get over the pole once because as I said it was a bit higher than I had expected. For my running races we did the 100m race and the 200m race, For the 100m race got second to last or last and for the 200m race I got second to last and the last minute. I think I showed resilice and courge for not giving up and always having simle  on my face even if I  did not do well. 

Whetu CSI finger printing Part 2

 Today I have done another fingerprint Using some dust powder.  First, we had to rub our thumb in our hair to get a bit of grease on it. Then we put our thumb on the window and we put a tiny bit of dust on them then we put some tape over it so it could stick on there. Then we took the tape off the window and put it on a piece of black paper. 

Whetu CSI Finger printing

 Today I have been doing my fingerprints to help solve our CSI case in our class. We had put some ink on our fingers to make the fingerprints and then we put them on our peace of paper, With your finger patterns you will either have whorls, arches, and loops I saw that n mine I had 1 arch 7 loops and 2 whorls. Whetu Crime Seen case #2020

When I came back to school after the holidays there has been a crime seen in our classroom. So we have become detectives to solve who has broken into our classroom. The suspect has left big footprints, A smashed window with blood on it, A tipped over the mug with something in it, I bloodstain on a piece of tissue paper, milky ways left on the ground, and one rapper, A NPS pen, A broken flower vase with blood next to it And a drivers license left under the grey tray. And some hair that was stuck in the door. 

Chapter Chat

 This week for chapter chat I created a new book cover for the book. I did have some I des from the first one but I made them into my own work. I drew some of the main characters like Ross, Abby, Jimmy, Isac, and Sarah. I made it look colorful so it could really pop and catch people's attention.

 This week is Maori langue week for New Zealand. We got to pick a word and make a slide show about it. Here is my slide hope you enjoy it.

Cooking Reflection

 This week I joined the cooking group and we made vegetable soup. On the first day, we went over a few rules about the kitchen and cooking utensils. On the second day we bought some vegetables to put in the soup I bought some potatoes. On the third day, we got to try the soup and it was DELICIOUS!!! I had seconds because it was that good.

Photosynthesis Slides

  For our inquiry we got to pick what thing we wanted to learn about, we could choose between Bugs galore, Animal life cycle, and Plants Plants Plants I picked Plants because I like nature and plants. I filled in a few slides to do with what we have been doing and hopefully, most of them are right. 

Apostrophe Slide's

This week on our learning constellation doc we had to fix some sentences and put some apostrophes there. At first, I did,nt really understand what they mention but then once I tried I figured it out.

Whetu Challenge

 Last week for whetu challenge we had to make a slide animation. for my animation, I did the titanic. When you o slide animations it is a bit hard because you have to make a lot of slides and make the images move very slowly. When we finished making them we had to show them to our learning constellation doc and vote what one you thought we should show to the class. Chapter Chat

 This week for Chapter chat I made A guitar case that Frank gave ross since he is playing the guitar. The guitar case was one of frank's that he used when he was in a band called Ripe Sponge ( weird name I know) For the case frank had spray painted one side of it orange so I painted some cardboard black and put some orange paper on it. And then I

drew some rock things on some paper to make the stickers he got when he was out rocking. 

My Animal report

For a couple of weeks, we have been researching different types of animals. I have been researching the vaquita and this is a report all about the animal.  It took me a while to think of what I should put on there so I put lots of things on. Here is a link to my report. 

Whetu Workshops Term 2/3

 During Term 2 and 3 the Whetū students have had the opportunity to be involved in a range of different workshops.

The workshop that I have enjoyed participating in the most has been Daning and science. I liked doing the dancing because dancing is one of my hobbies and you learn what types of dance styles there are and dance moves. Liked science because you can learn all sorts of things like if you put vinegar and baking soda together it will have a bigger chemical reaction then lemon juice and baking soda. 

The new learning that I have learned is that if you mix vinegar and milk together it will make a chemical reaction and the milk will stick together. 

What I have most enjoyed about the workshops is science, dancing, drama, origami because they are all so much fun and you can learn a lot more skills that can help with school and life. 

 I am interested in learning more about science because there is so much more to learn in science. 

My Art

 For the past couple of weeks, I have been doing some POP art. Pop art is when you use really bright and bold colors that stand out so for my art I  did some of the foods I like. We used a thing called a color wheel to help us with what color goes with what. For the pizza and the don't I tried to do the drip effect but I think it turned out ok. 

My Inqiury

 For the past couple of week's we have been researching about should animal's be kept in zoos?. We had to research the pros and cons of zoos to see if the zoo if good for the animals or not. We were working in our learning constellation groups and I and Jolie were looking for the cons and we saw that  Hamilton zoo didn't have any because they wanted to make their zoo look good so they can get visitors. When we where near the end of completing We had to come up with a way to present out learning so I made a static advertisement. In my ad, I put in my opinion if animals should be kept in zoos or not. I made my ad look as realistic as possible so I added some pictures of animals and a zookeeper. 

Cross country 2020

 This year for the cross country we couldn't go out to south farms because it was to muddy at the farm and because of COVID so we did it on the track instead. For my age group, we had to do 2 big laps and 1 small lap but when I was on my second lap I forgot to do the third so I went down the finish line and came 4th but then I had just realized that I forget the third lap so went to the teacher and told them what happened but I would rather tell them then lie so then after I got a token for honesty. After I got a nice juicy warm sausage wich was nice. In training before cross country, I tried my best and ran my hardest, and when it was the cross country day I think my training paid off. 

Chapter Challenge

This term we have a new book called Wink. The book is about a boy called Ross Moloy who has rare eye cancer. For the tasks, we could pick make, create, vocabulary, and write I picked write because I love writing and It looks interesting. for waiting we had to right what ross writes in his diary. I wrote about himself his family, his friends, and all the other stuff you do in life. I tried to make My diary look as realistic as possible. For the cover, I made it out of cardboard because most dairies have hardcovers and most covers are a bit hard. I had a few pagers to write in and I wrote a lot of things that ross does and happens in his life I also made his very own ben and bookmark so the bookmark helps to know where he is at in his diary for the pen I used one of my old pencils. 

Whetu Challenge Cartoon Characters Creation.

This week for Whetu challenge me and  My learning constellation group all made some cartoon characters from Peppa pig. What I found difficult was doing Suzie's hands because in the show their hands are quite tiny so they were a bit big. What I found easy was making Suzie's dress because I have made a few dresses before. I was trying to color Suzie's face but I couldn't so I left in but the background where I was making Suzie was white. 

Vaquita Reserch

This week I did some research on the Vaquita dolphin. We had a choice of the Cheetah, Sumatran Rhino, Spix Macaw, VAQUITA, Yellowfin tuna (Yellowfin tuna 2), Hectors Dolphin, Poison Dart Frog, Red Panda, The Galapagos Pink Land Iguana. But I chose the vaquita. I chose the Vaquita because I have never heard of it and it looked interesting so I researched it. I found some interesting things along the way. 

Egg Drop Challenge

On FriYAY!!! the 31st of July we did an Egg Drop Challenge. For the challenge. We had to make a little parachute for the egg to sit-in while it was going down. We dropped them off the grandstand at the domain. I was working with Ashley and Lola. The materials we used were newspapers, tape, two balloons, string,  straws, a sock, and scissors (for cutting). at first, we had a plan of how we would make the parachute. first, we made the place where the egg went for that we used the sock and we put some paper in the sock for padding and we stuck some straws on the sock and the egg went in the sock. For the parachute, we blew up two balloons and tied some string on the bottom of the balloon then we tied the leftover string on the straws and for our finishing touch we drew two eggs on each balloon with some faces and there was a bubble that had them saying yo haha. We went over to the grandstand and we were a bit nervous because we thought the egg might crack. we dropped our parachute and when it touched the ground it touched it quite softly so we went down to check and..... IT DID'T CRACK!!! we where so happy that it didn't crack. at the end we had a photo with the people whos egg didn't crack. 

Literacy Mystery.

This week I have done a solved a mystery of who stole the treasure off the Black Barnacle. This one wasn't like the math mysteries we did this is a literacy one. I did some working out and putting sentences together and lots of other things.

Matariki Jigsaw.

This week I did the Matariki jigsaw. It took all week for me to do it but I finished just today. I Had to do a lot of writing down, coloring and cutting. I found out some interesting facts along the way that there is 500 stars in the Matariki cluster which is insane!!!. Today is the last day of school before the holidays. we watched a movie in class with popcorn which was nice. here is a picture of my Matariki jigsaw.

Slide show animation

This week I made a slide show animation in the options. I had a think about what I was going to do and then something popped in my mind. I had to do a lot of putting things in places, thinking where everything went, and lots of other things. I did have some other ideas but they did,t work out. the key to making it look like a movie is to duplicate the slides and when you do that make your image move and sometimes you should check how it is going before it is done. I tried my best and this is what I did.

Term 2 Reflection

The new learning activity that I have enjoyed the most this term is art and the options because art is when you can use all of your creativity and let your imagination go wild!!. The options were also fun there was dancing, P.E, quizzes, and all sorts of fun stuff.

Something that has challenged me this term has been Maths because it is a bit difficult for me but I can find ways to make maths easier for me.

The Whetu Challenge I enjoyed the most was the tennis ball tower and the milk carton creation because I did some painting creating and I also did some teamwork in the tennis ball tower.

The opt-in workshop I enjoyed the most was dancing because I have been dancing ever since I was 3 and I love music and dancing is really fun!!!

An aim I have for my learning is to get better at math.

Whetu Challenge/ Egg creation

This week for our Whetu Challenge we created something using egg cartons. This week I created a mushroom, Panda, and a spider.


What I found challenging was making the spide and the panda because it was hard to stick the parts together because the egg carton had different shapes.


The hardest thing was making my parts stick because the thing I had to stick was thin so I had to put a bit of glue on.

The materials I used were an egg carton, pipe cleaners, paint.
It turned out to be ok because I did,nt finish all of it but I tried my best. I was going to make a bee as well but I ran out of time.

Recipe of Summer

For a couple of weeks, I have been writing a recipe about summer. You could choose any season you want so I picked summer. I made doc and thought about what I could do on It I had a thought of what you use and do in summer so I started typing and let my imagination go wild!. Here is a photo of what it turned out like. Blog Challenge

This week I did a blog challenge of designing my own home. I started off by having a big think about what I was going to do so I let my imagination go wild. I also made some of my own things. here are some slides to show you.

Whetu Challenge- Paper Plane

Today our challenge was to design an accurate paper plane. We were given a draft piece of paper to trial and a good piece to use once we had tested the accuracy of it.

Before we started I thought this challenge was going to be fun and it was but my plane did,nt fly that well.

I decided to use the design that had lots of colors, My name of course. and the plan design I did was similar to a javelin but it wasn't a standard.
The hardest part was making my plane fly because I had to see if it flew accurately.

During our competition time, I managed to score was nothing because I did,nt get on the runway or even into the hanger. but it was a lot of fun.

This week I did another math mystery, I had to figure out who was taking things from other people's pencil cases. the questions where a bit hard but I got there in the end here are the slides with all of my figuring out and my answer.

Blog Challenge

This week's blog challenge was we got to create some birthday cards for Miss Coles and Mr. Fraser for people's birthdays. I made a draft in my artbook and then I got a piece of paper and drew it on there. I made a joke but if you can,t see it this is the joke.

Mix generously with shards of sand

Tennis Ball Challenge

Today for our Whetu Challenge we worked in a group to build a tower out of newspaper, 2 straws, and sellotape. We needed to make our tower strong enough to hold a tennis ball and be able to stand alone (not leaning on anything or needing support).

Today I worked with Hannah and Carlee

At first, we had trouble with Making our tennis ball holder stand because we thought when we put the tennis ball on it would,nt fall.

The easiest thing was rolling up the paper and taping because we had to do spirals around the paper.

The best part of our tower was the part where the tennis ball stood on our holder

Our tower looked like a spider was going into a rocket ship because on top it looks like its legs

In the end, It turned out great and it was very stable to hold the tennis ball.

Maths Mystery

This week I did a math mystery with OJ. We had to find out who the naughty nome was. We did a lot of solving and we tried our best to find out who the culprit was. Here is the slide that we figured out who the culprit was.

Catupult Challenge

Whetu Catapult Challenge

The things that I used to make my catapult were: 3 rubber bands, 8 small iceblock sticks, 2 big iceblock sticks, and a spoon.

To make my catapult I worked with Jolie.

The most challenging part was making our catapult go far and not to break anything when I was slingshotting it.

Our best results were our catapult went 22 meters and we got into the semi-finals.

Overall I think that our one went pretty good and we tried our best.

Emoji Creation

This week I made some emojis. It was a bit hard but I got there in the end. This here is my laughing emoji. I tried to make a mouth but It doesn't, really look like one. I made a sunglasses emoji it was quite hard because it took a long time to make them because I had to get a lot of shapes to fill them in. I made a winking tung emoji I tried to make a tung but I think t looks ok. I made a Whetu emoji. I tried to make some stars since our theme is stars. I made the original Smiling emoji. I used a moon shape to make them smile. I made I winking love heart emoji. I thought this one would be cool for Valentine

day or something I tried to draw lips but they are a bit messy but oh well.
